Housing Market Could Challenge REA's Valuation -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0140 GMT - The historical performance of REA Group shares during housing-market downturns leaves Macquarie analysts cautious on the stock. The investment bank's analysts are among those anticipating a challenging period for listings and property valuations, tipping REA's volumes to decline 4% in fiscal 2028 and by 1% in fiscal 2029. They tell clients in a note that the News Corp-controlled real-estate advertiser generally trades at a discount to its long-run valuation in such conditions. Macquarie stays neutral on the stock but cuts its target price 18% to 155.00 Australian dollars. Shares are down 1.7% at A$133.46. News Corp is the parent company of Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires. (stuart.condie@wsj.com)
