Recycler Sims Getting Tailwinds Across Board -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Jun 18

0204 GMT - With ferrous scrap markets recovering, all three of Sims's earnings engines are providing material tailwinds, UBS says. Nonferrous markets continue to be strong, as are DDR4 chip prices, key to profits for its electronics recycling business. The bank reiterates a buy rating and raises its share-price target to A$34.25 from A$30.00. UBS says concerns about the long-term sustainability of earnings from electronics unit Sims Lifecycle Services, or SLS, "are legitimate." However, "we are increasingly confident in the outlook for DDR4 pricing, and SGM's value add to their key customers (as the only redeployment certified provider) reduces competitive threats," UBS says. Shares are down 0.2% at A$29.89. (rhiannon.hoyle@wsj.com; @RhiannonHoyle)
