1128 GMT - The Bank of England's decision to leave interest rates on hold comes as no surprise, and will buy the central bank some time, Joe Nellis at MHA says in a note. The pause will provide a degree of certainty for businesses, though borrowing costs remain high. Households will welcome the prospect of stable mortgage rates, but living costs are still a burden, Nellis says. Still, much will depend on the path of inflation in the coming months. Whether the BOE can continue to take a 'wait and see' approach will "depend on what happens to inflation over the summer and autumn periods," he says. While interest rate rises aren't the central expectation, they can't be ruled out, Nellis adds. (don.forbes@wsj.com)
