Seneca Foods' Shares Reach All-Time High After 4Q Profit Soars

Shares of Seneca Foods advanced after the company reported higher fourth-quarter sales and profit.

The stock was up 13% to $168.30 in trading just ahead of the close Friday afternoon. Shares reached an all-time high of $173.98 earlier in the trading session, and are up 52% this year.

The fruit and vegetable processing company reported after the close on Thursday net income of $25.3 million, or $3.69 a share, compared with $601,000, or 9 cents a share, a year earlier.

Net sales rose 14% to $393.8 million, helped by higher volume and improved margins.

Based in Fairport, N.Y., Seneca holds a large share of the market for retail private label, food service and restaurant chains.
