Ciena, Colt Technology Demonstrate Record-Speed Quantum-Secure Data Transfer Across Atlantic

Ciena (CIEN) and Colt Technology Services achieved the fastest quantum-safe transatlantic data transmission, securing live traffic between New York and London at an 800-gigabit Ethernet rate, the companies said Wednesday.
The trial spanned roughly 6,900 kilometers of Colt's subsea and terrestrial network and used Ciena's WaveLogic 6 Extreme encryption technology to safeguard data against future quantum threats.
The companies said the trial demonstrated that high-speed, quantum-safe connectivity is ready to support one of the world's busiest data corridors and rising AI-related traffic demand.
