Monro's board has launched a review of strategic options, including a potential sale of the provider of automotive repair and tire services.
Monro on Wednesday said it will work with its financial and legal advisers to study a range of alternatives aimed at maximizing shareholder value.
In addition to an outright sale, the Fairport, N.Y., company will look into asset sales, a refinancing, acquisitions and operational improvements.
Monro, which sports a market capitalization of around $497 million, said the review is at a preliminary stage and has no definitive timeline.
Trading in shares of Monro, which closed Tuesday at $16.56, was halted premarket Wednesday.
