Abercrombie & Fitch's 1Q Better Than Expected, But Risk Remains for Rest of Year -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
May 27

0946 ET - Abercrombie & Fitch notches a modest 1Q sales miss, according to William Blair in a research note, with same-store sales down 1%. But the analysts say they had expected worse, which seems to be playing out in a better-than-feared market reaction. Looking forward, Abercrombie maintains its full-year guidance, including a notable reduction in tariff impact as well as implying a back-half sales and margin inflection, the analysts add. But they also say they'd be cautious on the back-half guide "given the similar set-up to last year, when management continued to walk down profitability expectations throughout the year." Abercrombie & Fitch climbs 11% in early trading. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
