Euroseas shares rose to a 10-year high after the company's earnings beat Wall Street estimates and it boosted its quarterly dividend by about 6.7%.
Shares of the shipping company were recently 8.4% higher at $77.20. The stock had reached a new 10-year high of $78.76 earlier Thursday.
The company posted a profit of $32.5 million, or $4.65 a share, compared with $36.9 million, or $5.29, a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected $4.26 a share.
Adjusted earnings per share came in at $4.70 a share.
Revenue fell to $55.8 million from $56.3 million a year earlier. Analysts had expected $56.6 million. The company is expanding its new building program by adding four new shipbuilding contracts to its existing orderbook of six vessels, bringing the total number of vessels on order to 10, said Chief Executive Aristides Pittas.
The company also said it has raised its quarterly dividend to 80 cents a share from 75 cents a share. The new payout, equal to $3.20 a year, represents an annual yield of about 4.5% based on Wednesday's closing price of $71.20.
