RHB Bank's ROE Target Signals Strong Earnings Potential -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
May 18

0429 GMT - RHB Bank's earnings outlook appears promising, CGS International analyst Winson Ng says in a note. The lender is maintaining its ROE target of at least 12% for 2027, well above his forecast of 10.7%. Based on the analyst's simulation, RHB's 2027 net profit could reach 4.35 billion ringgit if the target is achieved, about 10% above current estimates of 3.96 billion ringgit, implying a potentially sector-leading two-year earnings CAGR of 13.7%. The expected ROE expansion is likely to be driven by stronger bancassurance income, capital markets-related operations and continued cost-reduction initiatives, he says. CGS maintains an add rating on RHB and keeps its target price at 10.30 ringgit. Shares are unchanged at 8.27 ringgit. (yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
