Corient's acquisition streak is showing no signs of slowing down. The Miami-based wealth manager, a subsidiary of Canada's CI Financial, said on Wednesday that it plans to acquire Capital Advisors, a registered investment advisory firm based in Tulsa, Okla., with $7.8 billion in assets under management.
Corient describes Capital Advisors, founded in 1978, as a leading RIA in Oklahoma and Texas, with a presence in six other states. The acquisition will bring a staff of 47 to Corient when it closes, likely later this quarter.
"The addition of Capital Advisors gives Corient our first office in Oklahoma and significantly expands our client base across the South and Southwest," says Corient CEO Kurt MacAlpine, who praised the firm for an "exceptional reputation as a premier wealth manager."
Capital Advisors is led by CEO Keith Goddard and President Andy Brown. They and the firm's 19 other principals will become partners at Corient when the deal closes.
Goddard said he was drawn to Corient's partnership model, with its emphasis on advisors working collaboratively with clients, as well as the services that the acquirer will make available to his advisor force.
"Corient allows us to enhance the client experience by gaining access to a broad network of expertise and a wide range of wealth management and family office services, including alternative investments, trust strategies, tax preparation, and bill paying," he says.
Corient made a flurry of acquisitions of multibillion-dollar RIAs last year, including the launch of a European expansion, and has continued to spend in 2026. In April, it announced the acquisition of Bedrock Group, a $10.7 billion wealth manager based in Geneva. That followed last year's announcement of the acquisitions of two U.K.-based wealth managers that together managed $220 billion.
In the U.S., Corient last month announced the acquisition of Vivaldi Capital Management, a $5.6 billion firm based in Chicago. Two weeks ago, Corient said it was acquiring a segment of parent company CI Financial's ultrahigh-net-worth advisory business in Canada.
This is the fourth acquisition Corient has announced this year, and a company representative says more are coming. "Corient will remain active in both U.S. and international markets as we continue to execute our growth plans."
