Great Elm Capital named Board Chair Jason Reese as its next chief executive, succeeding Matt Kaplan.

Kaplan will continue to serve as portfolio manager, the business-development company said Monday.

Reese had been named as executive chairman of the company in March, brought on to oversee management and provide credit investment experience.

He also serves as chair and CEO of Great Elm Group, the parent of the company's investment adviser, Great Elm Capital Management.
