Rockwell Automation Raises Outlook on Higher Sales

Rockwell Automation raised its full-year outlook after posting higher profit and sales in the firs cal second quarter.

The industrial automation company on Tuesday posted a profit of $350 million, or $3.10 a share, in the quarter ended March 31, compared with $252 million, or $2.22 a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-time items, adjusted per-share earnings were $3.30, ahead of the $2.88 anticipated by analysts, according to FactSet.

Revenue rose 12% to $2.24 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $2.16 billion.

Rockwell raised its full-year outlook for sales and earnings. It now expects revenue will be $8.9 billion at the midpoint, up from $8.8 billion. It projects adjusted earnings per share will be $12.50 to $13.10, up from $11.40 to $12.20.

In April, Rockwell dissolved its joint venture with SLB known as Sensia. The sales and earnings of the divested business are excluded from Rockwell's outlook for the second half of the year, the company said.
