Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico Expects No Impact From Spirit Shutting Down

Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico said it doesn't expect any financial impact from Spirit Airlines shutting down its operations.

The company, which operates airports in Mexico and Jamaica, said Monday that it has no material exposure from accounts receivable with Spirit, adding that the outstanding balances Spirit owes are covered by cash deposits and bank guarantees.

Spirit did account for roughly 3.5% of traffic at GAP's Kingston, Jamaica, airport and 2.6% of traffic at its Montego Bay, Jamaica, airport. But other airlines including JetBlue, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines have available capacity on the routes Spirit served.

Spirit didn't operate at any of the company's Mexican airports.

"GAP will continue to closely monitor developments in the Jamaican air travel market and will remain in communication with authorities and airlines to facilitate the reallocation of capacity on the affected routes, with the objective of preserving connectivity and minimizing any operational impact," the company said.
