U.S. to Introduce UN Resolution on Iran -- WSJ

The U.S. will introduce a resolution in the United Nations Security Council this week condemning Iran for placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz and looking to collect tolls in the international waterway, U.S. ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz told reporters Monday.

Co-drafted with Middle Eastern partners, Waltz said the goal was to set a clear precedent that "a country cannot lay mines in international waterways, and cannot use international waterways as a revenue source or attempt to charge international shipping." Waltz declined to say if Iran's attacks on vessels in the strait and the United Arab Emirates violated the cease-fire with the U.S., adding he would leave it to the White House to make that determination.
