Mohawk Industries is implementing a series of price hikes across a range of product categories and geographies, citing rising energy costs due to the war in the Middle East.

Jeff Lorberbaum, chief executive officer of the flooring manufacturer, said on Thursday additional price increases might be required, and noted higher gasoline prices are causing consumers to take a more cautious outlook.

"The degree to which the Middle East conflict will impact our markets depends on the duration of the disruptions and inflationary pressure," Lorberbaum said.

The company on Thursday posted a profit of $117.1 million, or $1.90 a share, compared with a profit of $72.6 million, or $1.15 a share, a year earlier. Analysts polled by FactSet expected earnings per share of $1.81.

Revenue rose to $2.73 billion from $2.53 billion a year earlier. Analysts were expecting revenue of $2.74 billion.
