WPP (WPP) is in discussions with the US Federal Trade Commission to potentially resolve an investigation into whether the company breached federal antitrust laws by coordinating boycotts against certain online media platforms, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.
As part of the proposed resolution, WPP and several major ad firms would commit not to direct clients' advertisement budgets away from media platforms based on political content that might appear on those sites, the unnamed sources told the publication.
Individual advertisers may still opt to avoid specific sites for their ads, according to the report.
WPP didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
