1142 ET - Cattle futures rise, along with a broader bullish sentiment in global markets amid hopes of de-escalation in the Middle East. Traders had been fearing higher energy costs would push consumers to cheaper protein sources. Oil futures are falling today. The rise in cattle prices could be flimsy, though. "Live cattle futures are overbought," Total Farm Marketing's Naomi Blohm writes in a pre-market note. "Fresh bullish news is needed, or a price correction lower may occur." On the CME, live cattle rise 0.7%. Lean hogs are down 0.1%. (paulo.trevisani@wsj.com; @ptrevisani)
