BRP suspended its full-year guidance, citing new tariffs on certain metals imported into the U.S.

The Canadian maker of powersports vehicles said Tuesday that incremental tariff cost will be in excess of $500 million for the rest of the year, before any mitigation measures that could offset impacts.

The amendment to Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum and copper imports to the U.S., which came into effect on April 6, replaced the previous 50% tariff on applicable metal content only, BRP said.

The new tariffs will lead to a 25% tariff on the total value of imported snowmobiles and the majority of ORV models, BRP said.

Chief Executive Denis Le Vot said he expects the business will be able to manage through the challenge.

"Like many manufacturers, we are operating in a highly volatile and unpredictable tariff environment that continues to create uncertainty across the market," Le Vot said.
