0349 GMT - Thai banks are likely to post lower 1Q net profit due to weaker net interest income, DBS Group Research analyst Thaninee Satirareungchai says in a report. Lending growth is set to remain slow amid a gloomy economy, while net interest margin is expected to decline due to lower yields. DBS expects the seven Thai banks under its coverage to post an aggregate 1Q net profit of 52.0 billion baht, down 11% on year. It maintains a neutral rating on Thailand's banking sector. Kiatnakin Phatra Bank, Kasikornbank and Siam Commercial Bank are its top picks. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
