Westpac Banking (ASX:WBC, NZE:WBC) Chief Executive Anthony Miller urged Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers to "chase the opportunity and the upside" of artificial intelligence, saying that it could drive "massive uplift in productivity across the country," the Australian Financial Review (AFR) reported on Tuesday.
The government should focus on "the fact that it will mean so many more roles can potentially be more efficient and more effective," instead of potential negative impacts, Miller said in an interview with the Australian Financial Review.
Miller said technology was one of the "classic unlocks for productivity." He supported the Business Council of Australia's proposed red tape reduction target of 25% by 2030.
