Prospect Resources (ASX:PSC) has completed a drilling program for the West Mwombezhi target at its Mumbezhi copper project in Zambia, with a shallow copper footprint emerging, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.

Significant new intersections from the drilling include 8.9 meters at 0.78% copper from 54.6 meters; 6.7 meters at 0.57% copper from 86 meters; 5.8 meters at 0.44% copper from 145 meters; five meters at 0.47% copper from 85 meters; 4.9 meters at 0.49% copper from 89.1 meters; 3.9 meters at 0.53% copper from 48.1 meters; and five meters at 0.41% copper from 42 meters.

The company said soil sampling has outlined "strong copper anomalism" extending more than one kilometer south of existing drilling, which supports the potential for additional mineralized strike extensions.

Shares of Prospect Resources were 8% higher in recent Australian trading.
