Maze Therapeutics Says Phase 2 Trial of Kidney Disease Therapy Shows Over 35% Protein Marker Reduction

Maze Therapeutics (MAZE) said Wednesday its experimental oral medication demonstrated a 35.6% average reduction in a key marker of kidney damage during a phase 2 clinical trial.
According to the company, half of the evaluated participants achieved a drop by over 30% in urinary protein levels after 12 weeks of treatment.
Meanwhile, a specific subgroup of patients suffering from severe focal segmental glomerulosclerosis experienced a 61.8% average decrease in protein levels, Maze said.
The therapy showed no serious adverse complications during the study, and the company expects to move the medication into a "pivotal" testing program based on the initial results, the company added.
