Japan is preparing a second phase of investment and loan support for U.S. projects worth about 10 trillion yen, focusing on areas such as next-generation nuclear reactors and gas-fired power, Nikkei reported Thursday.

The plan is expected to be outlined at a summit between Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and President Donald Trump in Washington, according to the report.

Companies including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (TYO:7011), Toshiba (TYO:6588) and IHI (TYO:7013) are considering participation in nuclear projects led by Westinghouse Electric, alongside plans for small modular reactors and two gas-fired power plants, the report said.

The move follows a broader $550 billion investment framework agreed last year, with an initial $36 billion phase covering energy and infrastructure projects, according to the report.
