GOP Reactions Differ on Resignation of Counterterrorism Official -- WSJ

Republican lawmakers are offering differing reactions to the resignation of Joe Kent, the administration's top counterterrorism official.

Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) cast Kent as an important internal voice of restraint, particularly on foreign policy. "Voices like his that caution against being overly involved in the wars of the Middle East were good voices to have," Paul said. "I know he was America First from the very beginning, and still is."

Others were critical of Kent. Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) accused Kent of echoing "Democratic talking points" and playing down the threat from Iran. "Clearly, he did not go to work enough," Graham wrote on X.
