Bill Ackman is taking his hedge fund public.
Pershing Square USA, a closed-end investment company managed by Pershing Square Capital Management, on Tuesday filed for an initial public offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company is seeking an aggregate offering size of at least $5 billion, including $2.8 billion in gross commitments from a private placement that will be settled in tandem with the IPO.
Pershing didn't say how many shares it would offer. Shares will sell for $50 each, and buyers must purchase at least 100 common shares in order to participate in the offering.
Shares will trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
