Rand Paul Says Iran War Will Turn Public Against Trump, GOP -- WSJ

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul called for the war in Iran to end soon, while warning that the conflict risked eroding support for President Trump and his party.

"It's not good for America," Paul said Thursday in an interview with FOX Business Network's Varney & Co. "I think what's going to happen is it's going to turn the public also against the president and against the Republican Party."

Paul, a libertarian Republican who is generally skeptical of overseas conflicts, added that the U.S. shouldn't get caught up in pursuing regime change in Iran when that isn't likely to happen.

"If you're defining [winning] as unconditional surrender, where we get to choose the Ayatollah, I think that's very unrealistic and probably a recipe for being there forever," he said.
