AIB Group's Capital Distribution Will Be Key -- Market Talk

0945 GMT - How fast AIB Group will be able to bring down its capital ratio is likely to be in focus after the Irish bank reported second-half results, RBC Capital Markets says in a research note. The group reported a common equity tier 1 ratio of 16.2% at the end of the year, beating consensus of 15.5%. The ratio was also above management's target of more than 14%. Investors will be watching for whether the target means materially above 14%, given the exit level and 2028 consensus for a 14.4% ratio, analysts write. This is key because it reflects how much capital can be returned to shareholders in the years ahead, they say. Shares rise 2.9% to 8.74 euros. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
