Five companies from Changsha have been selected as part of the inaugural group of members for the National Commercial Space Innovation Consortium, signaling a significant step for the city in supporting China's space strategy and integrating into the commercial space industry.
The consortium, initiated by the China National Space Administration on April 24, 2025, and officially launched during the main event for the 10th China Space Day, aims to foster a collaborative innovation ecosystem for commercial space. It focuses on key areas such as policy dissemination, supply-demand matching, industrial integration, technological innovation, and the commercialization of research outcomes.
The first batch of 271 members spans the entire commercial space value chain, including rocket launches, satellite manufacturing, measurement and control, data applications, and technological innovation. Among them, Changsha Tianyi Space Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Hunan Hangsheng Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., and Hunan Lanyue Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. were selected for the satellite manufacturing group. Hunan Zhongke Aerospace Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Changsha Beidou Industrial Safety Technology Research Institute Group Co., Ltd. joined the data application group.
Changsha Tianyi Space Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., a leading SAR satellite constellation operator in China, has successfully launched dozens of satellites, including the country's first commercial networked SAR satellites. The company has raised a total of 1.3 billion yuan through multiple funding rounds.
Hunan Hangsheng Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., a national high-tech enterprise with full-chain satellite development capabilities, has developed and launched 14 satellites, created over 100 types of core components, and served more than 120 clients for space missions.
Hunan Lanyue Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. specializes in satellite attitude and orbit control products. The company has delivered over 2,800 such products, serving more than 300 satellites in orbit, and maintains a leading market position.
The inclusion of these five firms highlights the strength of Changsha's commercial space sector. The Hunan Xiangjiang New Area alone has gathered over 40 companies in the commercial aerospace supply chain, fostering listed industry leaders and forming a distinctive industrial cluster.
A representative from Hunan Hangsheng Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. stated that the selection affirms the company's technical prowess and industry contributions. They pledged to actively participate in the consortium's collaborative mechanisms to contribute to the high-quality development of commercial space.
Similarly, an official from Hunan Lanyue Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd. said the company will use this opportunity to engage in the consortium's activities, strengthen collaboration with research institutions and industry partners, and increase R&D investment to enhance product delivery capabilities and quality consistency.
