NetEase's stock surged 5.10% during intraday trading on Friday, marking a significant upward movement for the Chinese internet technology company.
The price increase follows the company's announcement that it will transition to a dual primary listing status on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, effective from June 30. This strategic move is expected to enhance NetEase's profile and accessibility, particularly as it may facilitate the company's future inclusion in the Stock Connect program, enabling mainland Chinese investors to directly purchase shares and broadening its capital base.
The transition follows the Hong Kong Exchange's determination that more than 55% of NetEase's worldwide trading value took place in Hong Kong during fiscal 2025, triggering the migration requirement under listing rules. The company had until February 2027 to comply but elected to complete the transition early.
