Boustead's stock price fell sharply by 5.94% during intraday trading on Monday, following news of its corporate restructuring involving the spin-off of its fund and property management business.
The decline comes as the market reacts to the formation of UI Boustead REIT, which was created through Unified Industrial's acquisition of Boustead's fund and property management business. The REIT is scheduled to commence trading later this week with an initial market capitalization of approximately S$1.2 billion.
While Boustead CEO Wong Fong Fui has committed as a cornerstone investor in the REIT IPO, investors appear concerned about the divestment of this business segment from Boustead's core operations. The restructuring represents a significant change in Boustead's business portfolio and asset management strategy.
