Gold Maintains Steady Ascent as Bulls Eye Breakout Above Key Resistance

Deep News
Aug 18

Gold continues its upward oscillation pattern, with the primary objective currently being to build momentum for a breakout above the 4450 resistance level. The overall strategy remains centered on buying dips, as the market appears poised to push to new highs at any moment, with any pullback presenting another opportunity to enter long positions.

On Monday, gold steadily climbed above the 4366 support level. During the midday session, we emphasized that holding above 4366 warranted a buy-on-dips approach. In the European session, the price pulled back to the 4377 level before rallying, and during the US session, it broke through the 4416 intraday high to reach approximately 4430. Monday's price action fully aligned with our expectations, validating both the long entry at 4366 and the follow-through buy triggered by the 4416 breakout.

From a technical standpoint, the trend requires little elaboration—the market is maintaining its steady upward rhythm. However, since the previous high at 4450 has yet to be breached, we should avoid being overly aggressive with bullish positions. Tuesday's intraday low was recorded at 4366 during the morning session, while the European session pullback found support at 4377, making this level the key intraday pivot to watch. For today's trading, a pullback toward the 4377 support zone should be viewed as a fresh buying opportunity, with a protective stop below 4366 and upside targets set at 4430 and 4450.

If the afternoon correction remains shallow and the price firmly holds above 4377, traders should consider using this level as the bullish defense line and actively participate in long positions targeting 4430 and 4450. Once a new high is confirmed, any minor pullback can also serve as an additional entry point for longs.
