During the 2026 National Day holiday period from October 1 to October 7, airports across Yunnan Province collectively handled 11,416 aircraft movements, 1.6312 million passenger trips, and 8,449.77 tonnes of cargo and mail, with the daily average of aircraft movements and passenger throughput increasing by 2.43% and 2.47% respectively compared with 2025.
Among them, Kunming Airport recorded 6,802 aircraft movements, 1.025 million passenger trips, and 6,757.39 tonnes of cargo and mail. Overall operations were safe, stable, and smooth, with no unsafe incidents occurring.
It is worth noting that Shanghai, Beijing, and Hangzhou ranked as the top three sources of passengers from outside Yunnan Province. Passenger throughput on the province's international routes achieved year-on-year growth, the recovery trend toward Southeast Asia continued to improve, and demand for short-haul cross-border travel steadily rebounded.
The intra-provincial circuit flight network continued to connect cultural and tourism resources, with core routes such as Xishuangbanna–Lijiang and Dali–Xishuangbanna effectively linking western and southern Yunnan tourism, supporting the "multi-stop, single-journey" tourism market. Airports in Pu'er, Mangshi, Baoshan, Dali, Zhaotong, and Diqing all maintained double-digit growth in both aircraft movements and passenger throughput.
Walking into airports across Yunnan Province, bright five-star red flags fluttered in the wind, and the vivid "China Red" formed by national flags and fresh flowers allowed passing travelers to feel a solemn and strong festive atmosphere. Kunming Airport, with the theme of "Changshui Companion · Celebrating the National Day Together," carefully created a series of themed decorations and fun interactive experiences. Security inspection and guard employees sang with passion, and exciting performances took turns on stage throughout the seven days of the holiday.
Wenshan Airport staff wore Chinese-style qipao and invited passengers to take photos and sing together, with melodious songs echoing through the waiting hall. Diqing Airport prepared butter tea, tsampa, and other Shangri-La specialty foods at the event site for passengers to taste free of charge. Washan Airport hung lantern riddles one by one in the waiting hall and carried out holiday interactions through riddle guessing. Tengchong Airport arranged a themed backdrop in the terminal building and presented small gifts and holiday wishes to arriving and departing passengers.
Xishuangbanna Airport, Mangshi Airport, Baoshan Airport, Pu'er Airport, Zhaotong Airport, Lincang Airport and others hosted fun mini-games, knowledge quizzes, and other interactive activities that attracted passengers to stop and participate, with laughter and joy filling the scene and bringing warmth and surprises to travelers along the way.
It is understood that airports and service support units across Yunnan Province set up a total of 76 fixed volunteer service points, with more than 1,000 young volunteers on duty. Young volunteers at various airports wore ethnic costumes and, focusing on passenger travel needs, carried out warm services such as inquiry guidance, order maintenance, luggage assistance, and full-process assistance for key passengers. They introduced the distinctive features of various places in Yunnan to passing travelers, jointly creating a festive and harmonious holiday atmosphere.
