WH Group Limited announced that its 86.9%-owned U.S. subsidiary, Smithfield Foods, Inc., filed unaudited interim results for the six months ended 28 June 2026.
Revenue and profit • Sales slipped 0.77% year-on-year to USD 7.50 billion. • Cost of sales fell 0.60% to USD 6.51 billion, keeping gross profit broadly stable at USD 990 million (-1.79%). • Selling, general and administrative expenses dropped sharply to USD 371 million from USD 465 million, supporting a 7.05% rise in operating profit to USD 623 million. • Net income attributable to Smithfield climbed 17.48% to USD 484 million, lifting basic and diluted EPS to USD 1.23 from USD 1.05. • Consolidated net income, including non-controlling interests, increased to USD 489 million versus USD 415 million in the prior-year period.
Comprehensive income Total comprehensive income reached USD 503 million, up from USD 451 million, aided by positive foreign currency translation and pension accounting adjustments.
Balance sheet highlights (28 June 2026 vs. 28 December 2025) • Total assets edged down 1.34% to USD 12.01 billion. • Cash and cash equivalents declined 12.28% to USD 1.35 billion. • Inventories rose 2.23% to USD 2.38 billion. • Current liabilities increased to USD 1.95 billion (-12.23%), driven by a shift of USD 0.60 billion of long-term debt into current maturities. • Long-term debt decreased 29.90% to USD 1.40 billion, while shareholder’s equity expanded 2.99% to USD 7.00 billion.
Ownership and accounting framework Smithfield’s interim figures are prepared under U.S. GAAP and may differ from WH Group’s consolidated IFRS results. WH Group retains an 86.9% indirect stake in Smithfield.
