Yancoal Australia Ltd's stock soared 5.11% during intraday trading on Tuesday, reaching its highest level in nearly a month following the release of positive second-quarter production figures.
The coal producer reported strong operational performance with run-of-mine coal production increasing to 17.5 million tons on a 100% basis, up from 17.0 million tons in the prior comparable period. Additionally, saleable coal production rose to 13.8 million tons from 12.7 million tons, demonstrating improved operational efficiency.
The company also benefited from higher coal prices, with the average realized price increasing to A$160 per ton compared to A$142 per ton in the previous comparable period. These combined factors of increased production volumes and improved pricing contributed to investor optimism and drove the stock's significant intraday gains.
