Five Below's stock tumbled 8.25% in the after-hours session on Wednesday, following the release of its first-quarter fiscal 2026 financial results.

The discount retailer reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.22, significantly exceeding the analyst consensus estimate of $1.77, while revenue of $1.29 billion also topped expectations. The company additionally raised its full-year sales and earnings guidance.

Despite the strong quarterly performance and upward revision to its outlook, the stock experienced a sharp decline. Market analysts attribute the move to a classic "sell-the-news" reaction, where investors who had bid up the share price in anticipation of positive results decided to lock in profits once the earnings were officially released.
