In Hefei's unmanned retail spaces, the humanoid robot "Wheat" has stepped into the role of store clerk, ready to assist customers with recommendations upon request and complete transactions via QR code scanning—all within a minute. Starting August 26, these robotic mini-stores are set to appear at four locations: Li Street East, Li Street South, Hefei 1972, and Gong Street.
According to reports, the robot store initiative plans to roll out 500 units across the city this year, with an ambitious target of expanding to 2,000 automated outlets by next year. This marks a significant move toward integrating advanced robotics into everyday retail operations, offering a glimpse into the future of convenience shopping in urban settings.
