Beijing has announced an expansion of its consumer trade-in initiative, now offering subsidies for ten distinct categories of smart products, according to information released by the municipal commerce authority.
The program provides financial support to individual consumers in the city for purchasing a range of smart items. The eligible product list includes smart door locks, smart security cameras, smart floor cleaners (encompassing smart mopping machines and smart vacuum cleaners), smart toilets (including smart toilet seats), digital cameras (including action cameras), smart headphones, whole-home smart hubs (including smart home servers and gateways), smart beds (including smart mattresses), smart electric wheelchairs, and embodied intelligent robots (covering companion robots, robotic dogs, exoskeleton robots, and elderly care robots).
The subsidy is set at 15% of the final sales price of these products after all other discounts and promotions have been applied. Each individual is eligible for a subsidy on one item per category, with a maximum subsidy cap of 1,500 yuan per item. The initiative employs an "instant discount" model for the subsidy.
To participate, consumers must first complete real-name verification via the "Jingtong" mobile application. They can then access the "Smart Home Subsidy" section to claim a voucher code corresponding to their desired smart home product category. This voucher can be used when making a purchase from participating retailers, with the subsidy amount deducted instantly at the payment stage. The subsidy applies equally to both online and offline purchases.
All products must possess smart functionality and have a standardized national product code. For items that are subject to energy efficiency or water efficiency ratings, they must meet the highest Grade 1 standard to qualify for the subsidy.
