During the National Day holiday, Nanjing rolled out a spectacular and abundant holiday feast, welcoming guests from all directions with warm everyday life and thoughtful service.
From the wildly popular Confucius Temple, Qinhuai River, and Ming City Wall to vibrant commercial districts, auto shows, and debut premieres, and on to the doctors on duty and construction workers holding their posts, over the seven-day long holiday, central media continuously focused on and reported on "Nanjing is awesome," which went viral.

On October 6, People's Daily published on its front page the report "Holding Their Posts to Fulfill Original Aspirations, Working with Real Effort to Make New Contributions," focusing on how during the National Day holiday, in the speech rehabilitation clinic of the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, associate chief physician Jiang Chenghui held her post and provided speech training for pediatric patients. The original report said: On the morning of October 5, in the speech rehabilitation clinic of the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, associate chief physician Jiang Chenghui squatted down to diagnose a 7-year-old boy and worked hard to help him "find his voice back" bit by bit. During the National Day holiday, Jiang Chenghui held her post and provided speech training for pediatric patients. She has persisted in such holiday clinics for 10 years. "Many people come from out of town, and with holiday visits, the children won't miss school," she said. "Seeing the children pronounce more and more clearly and dare to open their mouths to communicate with others, I feel very satisfied, and holding my post is worthwhile."
On October 7, People's Daily published on its front page the report "Culture Nourishes a Thousand Years, Hearts Tied to Home and Country: Observations of Cultural Phenomena During the National Day Holiday," turning its lens to the art museum at Nanjing Deji Plaza during the National Day holiday. Tourists put on smart bracelets for an immersive experience of the "Jinling Scroll Digital Art Exhibition." The original report said: During the holiday, many tourists walked into the art museum at Deji Plaza in Nanjing, Jiangsu, put on smart bracelets, and immersed themselves in the "Jinling Scroll Digital Art Exhibition." A babbling stream flowed through the woods, a shoulder-pole vendor passed through the market, and guests in a teahouse raised their cups and chatted. The everyday bustle of Jinling from a thousand years ago unfolded one scene after another through technological means. The driving force behind new expressions and new changes comes from adhering to a people-centered approach: the protection and utilization of cultural relics is precisely about letting the people enjoy cultural achievements and letting the history of civilization nourish contemporary life. When people copy oracle bone inscriptions under the night lights of the Yinxu Museum, put on smart bracelets at the Deji Art Museum to "play the role" of a Song Dynasty scholar, and gaze at cave statues in the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, a cultural identity that is "used daily without being noticed" quietly grows through experience.
On October 7, People's Daily published on page 02 "Jiangsu Builds a '15-Minute Elderly Care Service Circle' to Support the Happiness of Older People," focusing on Nanjing's launch of a "home-based elderly care service list," weaving a service network that makes older people comfortable and at ease. The original report said: Early in the morning, at home in Community 2, Fuguishan, Xuanwu District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, 70-year-old Bai Qiuping propped herself up on the handrail beside the bed. In the bathroom, there were a smart toilet and a non-slip shower chair; on the kitchen wall, a smoke sensor and gas alarm showed green lights; the call button at the bedside responded as soon as it was pressed... The more than 40-square-meter home, after age-friendly renovation, had support everywhere. At noon, Bai Qiuping and her husband walked 5 minutes to eat at the meal assistance point of the community elderly care service center. The community elderly care service center that Bai Qiuping and her husband often visited is precisely an important part of "Suitable Jiangsu Elderly Care," which solves the problem of fragmented home-based elderly care services and builds a "15-minute elderly care service circle." A person in charge of the elderly care service division of the Nanjing Civil Affairs Bureau introduced that most older people are willing to choose home-based elderly care. Since 2021, Nanjing has launched a "home-based elderly care service list," introduced third-party institutions to provide age-friendly renovation plans, and provided certain government subsidies, weaving a service network that makes older people comfortable and at ease.
On October 7, People's Daily published on page 04 the photo report "Figures Holding Their Posts, Beautiful Scenery (New Era Scroll)," focusing its camera on Nanjing's front line of construction. On October 2, CCTV's "Evening News" reported "Nanjing Roast Duck: Jinling Flavor in the Rolling Stove Fire, Even with Doubled Queues You Still Have to Wait." In Nanjing, Jiangsu, an old shop specializing in roast duck for 30 years sold about 1,600 Nanjing roast ducks that day. One duck was cut and sold fresh. Usually, a 20-minute queue was enough to get one, but on the first day of National Day, the time doubled. The ceaseless stove fire is the magic that allows the smoky aroma of charcoal roasting and the fresh fragrance of duck meat to blend layer by layer. One hundred stoves a day is the old shop's unwavering rhythm of craftsmanship. After 30 years of dedicated operation, roast duck from a small alley has flown to the whole country. Above the counter, 12 mobile phones were online all day, responding to the taste expectations of diners nationwide, more than 70 percent of whom were repeat customers.
On October 4, CCTV reported that Nanjing's first-store IP continued to refresh, and the Baijiahu commercial district activated new vitality in holiday consumption. The country's first "One Two and Bubu Happy Day" pop-up store landed at Nanjing Jingfeng Center, with more than 100 nationally debut limited-edition merchandise items unveiled together, attracting out-of-town fans to make special trips to Nanjing for check-ins. A consumer said, "We came specially from Beijing. We have liked the 'One Two and Bubu Happy Day' IP for one or two years." The continuous refresh of first stores brought freshness, IP activities kept up the topic heat, and service details provided a backstop of warmth. During National Day, Jingfeng Center's highest single-day foot traffic exceeded 150,000 visits, driving consumption in the entire Baijiahu commercial district to continue heating up. According to Wang Fei, deputy director of the Commerce Bureau of Jiangning District, Nanjing, "Since the beginning of this year, Jiangning District has successively introduced more than 100 first stores of various types in core commercial districts such as Baijiahu, University Town, and Shangqinhuai. In addition, focusing on complexes and hotels such as Jingfeng and Jinying, we have actively guided differentiated and personalized development of various types of commerce, provided discounted goods for the holiday economy, event economy, and more, and comprehensively met citizens' high-quality, diversified, and personalized needs in daily consumption, specialty consumption, and other aspects."
