Pony AI Inc (NASDAQ: PONY; HKEX: 2026) reported its second-quarter 2026 financial results and interim performance on August 18. The Robotaxi segment saw revenue surge 691.2% year-over-year in Q2, with its revenue contribution climbing to one-third of total revenue for the first time, becoming a key growth driver. Notably, passenger fare revenue skyrocketed 849.3% year-over-year, marking the highest single-quarter gain in history. Meanwhile, the company has secured deployment plans for over 4,000 Robotaxis overseas through partnerships with Uber and other collaborators, accelerating both commercialization and globalization.
According to the financial report, Pony AI's total Q2 revenue reached RMB 246 million, up 68.8% year-over-year. First-half cumulative revenue totaled RMB 478 million, a 98.9% increase from the prior year. As of June 30, 2026, the company held RMB 9.435 billion in cash equivalents and short/long-term investment products, providing a solid financial foundation for large-scale expansion and R&D efforts.
As the standout highlight of the quarter, Robotaxi segment revenue hit RMB 81.92 million in Q2, contributing one-third of total revenue, with a 691.2% year-over-year and 40.9% quarter-over-quarter increase. Growth was driven by the deployment of seventh-generation vehicles, expanded commercial operations, and co-fleet partnerships. Passenger fare revenue soared 849.3% year-over-year in Q2, a historic single-quarter record, directly reflecting genuine end-user willingness to pay and signaling the maturing of Robotaxi's commercial loop. In the first half alone, Robotaxi revenue reached RMB 140 million, surpassing the full-year 2025 level. The company's full-year 2026 target is to achieve more than 3.5x revenue growth in this segment compared to 2025, with key groundwork already laid in H1.
"We are confident in exceeding our full-year Robotaxi revenue targets," said Peng Jun, Founder and CEO of Pony AI. "In Q2, we continued advancing the scale and commercialization of our Robotaxi business, achieving strong revenue growth, rapid fleet expansion, and broader operational coverage across China and overseas markets."
As of June 30, 2026, Pony AI's Robotaxi fleet reached 1,975 vehicles, steadily progressing toward the year-end target of over 3,500. The seventh-generation Robotaxis, built on three vehicle models from BAIC, GAC, and Toyota, are all in daily service. Under the "China + Overseas" dual-engine strategy, Pony AI continues to drive Robotaxi commercialization and scaling. Domestically, the company is expanding fleet size and operational density in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, with user numbers growing rapidly. As of August 2026, the Pony AI app has surpassed 1.5 million registered users in China, up sharply from 1 million in March, reflecting rising public acceptance of autonomous ride-hailing services.
Pony AI is also broadening service coverage to include more frequent and diverse mobility scenarios. In Guangzhou, Robotaxi services have expanded from Nansha District to the city center, covering Haizhu, Tianhe, Huangpu, and Panyu districts, with the central operating area expanding by over 300 square kilometers from the start of the year and serving a population of over 7 million. In Shenzhen, the service network now extends to key transportation hubs including Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, Shenzhen Bay Port, and Shekou Cruise Homeport, covering high-value scenarios such as daily commuting, cross-border travel, and airport transfers.
In overseas markets, Pony AI leverages its co-fleet model, partnering with global mobility platforms and local operators to expand its footprint. The revenue contribution from the co-fleet model increased quarter-over-quarter in Q2. The company has validated its Robotaxi technology capabilities, 7x24 all-weather operational reliability, and per-unit profitability model in China's first-tier cities, providing strong validation for international partners adopting the co-fleet approach. Currently, Pony AI has secured partnerships across multiple markets, with overseas deployment plans totaling over 4,000 vehicles, including more than 2,000 Robotaxis slated for deployment across five key European cities in collaboration with Uber.
The "technology provider + platform + operator" co-fleet collaboration is becoming a critical model for Pony AI to rapidly replicate and expand both domestically and internationally with greater capital efficiency. Progress in key overseas markets is accelerating. In June, Pony AI launched Robotaxi testing in Luxembourg with Bolt and Stellantis. In Singapore, Robotaxi services are now available to the public through ComfortDelGro's Zig app. Additionally, operations in Croatia, Qatar, the UAE, and South Korea continue to deepen.
Lou Tiancheng, Co-founder and CTO of Pony AI, noted that the company's early strategic investments in full-stack L4 autonomous driving technology and world models are now driving efficiency gains in both R&D and operations, accelerating entry into new global markets. World Model 2.0 enables the company to deploy fleets across multiple countries and cities with fewer R&D resources, without requiring proportional increases in engineering headcount. Technology-driven operational optimization is also reducing per-vehicle operating costs, supporting larger fleet operations.
Thanks to deepened collaboration with Sinotrans, Pony AI's Robotruck business is also showing strong momentum. Q2 Robotruck revenue reached RMB 90.44 million, up 40.0% year-over-year and 30.7% quarter-over-quarter. The fourth-generation autonomous heavy-duty trucks have entered mass production as planned and passed vehicle-grade testing, primarily targeting high-value scenarios such as long-haul logistics, bulk commodity transport in the northwest, and port horizontal transportation. The company is collaborating with China Merchants Port at Shenzhen Mawan Port, launching commercial deployment of fourth-generation trucks with mixed fleet operations alongside human-driven vehicles.
In April, Pony AI unveiled the world's first fully vehicle-grade, fully redundant L4 autonomous light-duty truck, fully leveraging Robotaxi technology capabilities for B2B urban delivery scenarios such as express sorting and supermarket replenishment, currently in early testing. The company aims to deploy nearly 1,000 autonomous heavy-duty trucks within the next 2-3 years and 100,000 autonomous light-duty trucks by 2030, fully unlocking the commercial potential of L4 Robotruck operations.
Additionally, Pony AI's intelligent solutions business continues to generate steady revenue and expand application boundaries, with Q2 revenue reaching RMB 73.4 million, up 3.9% year-over-year, serving clients across low-speed delivery, smart street sweepers, logistics, and humanoid robots. In the first half of 2026, deliveries of autonomous driving domain controllers more than doubled year-over-year.
Wang Haojun, Co-founder and CFO of Pony AI, stated that while Q2 revenue grew rapidly, operating expense growth remained well below revenue growth, with operating leverage steadily improving. The company will maintain a prudent capital strategy, converting technological and operational advantages into sustainable, high-quality financial growth. The financial report shows Q2 net loss narrowed by 14.9% year-over-year and 15.3% quarter-over-quarter.
