Prudential plc has reported a reduction in its share capital after cancelling 298,331 ordinary shares repurchased on Apr, 16 2026 at a volume-weighted average price of GBP 11.2418 per share. Following the cancellation, the company’s issued share capital declined to 2,524,024,797 shares as of Apr, 20 2026.
On Apr, 20 2026, Prudential bought back an additional 429,985 ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange, paying between GBP 11.095 and GBP 11.235 per share for a total consideration of GBP 4.80 million. These shares, representing about 0.017 % of the company’s outstanding stock, are earmarked for cancellation.
Including a separate tranche of 306,299 shares repurchased on Apr, 17 2026 and still awaiting cancellation, Prudential now holds 736,284 shares pending removal from its share capital.
The transactions form part of the buyback authority approved on May, 14 2025, which permits the repurchase of up to 262.7 million shares. To date, 83.16 million shares—approximately 3.19 % of the company’s shares then in issue—have been repurchased under this mandate. Under exchange rules, Prudential is subject to a moratorium on issuing new shares until May, 20 2026.
