Global gold prices have been in a sustained decline recently. During trading on the 25th, the New York gold futures price once fell to $3,976.30 per ounce, marking its lowest level since last November. This represents a drop of nearly 30% from the all-time high of $5,594.82 per ounce reached in January of this year.
On June 25th, China Construction Bank announced that, in order to mitigate business risks and protect investor rights, it will close its agency service for personal precious metals trading on the Shanghai Gold Exchange at the end of the daily settlement on July 24th.
China Construction Bank advised clients that after the service closure, if any positions or physical inventory remain in client accounts, the bank will, in accordance with relevant agreement terms, proceed to sell the inventory or forcibly close the positions at an opportune time. The resulting funds will be automatically transferred to the client's linked account.
On June 24th, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China announced that it will terminate its agency service for personal precious metals auction trading on the Shanghai Gold Exchange at the end of the daily settlement on July 24, 2026.
On June 22nd, China Guangfa Bank announced that, to enhance risk management and protect investor rights, it plans to completely halt its agency service for personal precious metals trading on the Shanghai Gold Exchange by the end of this month.
