Builders FirstSource (BLDR) stock plummeted 5% during intraday trading on Thursday following the release of its first-quarter financial results.

The building materials supplier reported a significant miss on adjusted earnings per share, posting $0.27 compared to analyst estimates of $0.37, representing a 27% shortfall. The company swung to a net loss of $47.4 million, or $0.43 per share, from earnings in the prior-year period. While quarterly sales of $3.29 billion exceeded expectations, they declined 10.1% year-over-year primarily due to a weaker housing starts environment and commodity deflation.

Adding to investor concerns, Builders FirstSource reduced its full-year 2026 net sales guidance to a range of $14.6 billion to $15.6 billion, down from its previous outlook of $14.8 billion to $15.8 billion. The company also reported a 42.1% decline in adjusted EBITDA to $213.8 million, citing higher interest expenses as an additional factor contributing to the weaker financial performance.
