Technip Energies, a French engineering and technology company, has received a significant authorization to continue work on the Commonwealth LNG project in Louisiana as it progresses toward a final investment decision.

The authorization, granted by Commonwealth LNG, permits the company to proceed with key engineering, procurement, and construction activities under the existing EPC contract.

Technip Energies stated that this authorization supports the ongoing execution of the project and follows a previous authorization covering long-lead equipment orders.

The proposed facility, located in Cameron Parish, is designed to produce 9.5 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas and will consist of six liquefaction trains.

These trains will utilize Technip Energies' SnapLNG modular technology, which aims to enhance scalability and construction efficiency.

This new authorization represents a substantial step forward for the Commonwealth LNG project. It reflects confidence in the project's fundamentals, execution strategy, and its long-term importance to global energy security."

Technip Energies indicated that the authorization falls within its "significant" category, corresponding to a contract value between $578 million and $1.15 billion.

The company added that, once a final investment decision is made, the full contract value is expected to be included in its order backlog.
