On July 27, Lei Jun announced that Xiaomi Automotive will hold its second technical briefing on July 30 at 7 PM, primarily introducing the Xiaomi Kunlun technology architecture. This includes the Xiaomi Kunlun platform, Xiaomi Kunlun Super Range Extender, and Xiaomi Kunlun Full-Domain Safety. At the event, the Pengcheng series range-extender SUVs, including the Pengcheng N90 Max and Pengcheng N70 Max, will be unveiled simultaneously. This also signifies that Xiaomi Automotive is entering the range-extender segment.
The Xiaomi Pengcheng series is positioned as a smart, variable, large-space, range-extender SUV, covering diverse scenarios such as daily commuting, long-distance travel, and outdoor camping. Both models have previously completed filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This article will briefly introduce the basic information of the two models, with a detailed highlight presentation scheduled for the technical briefing on July 30.
Pengcheng N90 Max and Pengcheng N70 Max share a consistent exterior design, with the primary difference being their dimensions. The Pengcheng N90 Max is positioned as a large seven-seat flagship large-range-extender SUV, available in standard and camping versions. The standard version measures 5285mm in length, 1998mm in width, and 1825mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3080mm, while the camping version has a vehicle height of 1925mm. The Pengcheng N70 Max is positioned as a large five-seat, four-wheel-drive, range-extender mid-to-large SUV, with dimensions of 4960mm in length, 1998mm in width, and 1765mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3080mm, identical to the AITO M6.
As the second product series under Xiaomi Automotive, the core concept is to create a "living space" cabin, breaking the limitations of traditional fixed interior layouts to achieve flexible, scenario-based space. In terms of exterior, the Pengcheng N90/N70 Max continues the family design style, featuring a closed front grille with an embedded "SkyNomad" English logo on the front trim, paired with side lighting groups, offering strong recognition. From the side profile, the front and rear fender shapes are more prominent, with floating design exterior mirrors and semi-hidden door handles. The N90 Max offers 21-inch wheels in five styles, while the N70 Max provides 19-inch and 21-inch wheels in four styles. At the rear, the Pengcheng N90/N70 Max features a ring-shaped light strip running through the entire tailgate, with vertical light strips extending downward on both sides, echoing the front design. The tailgate center is equipped with "SKYNOMAD" English lettering. The bumper adopts a two-layer spliced contrasting color structure, enhancing the SUV's rugged appeal, with slim red reflective strips embedded on both sides, making the rear appear wider and more stable.
The Pengcheng N90 Max will offer a camping version equipped with a retractable roof, providing a rooftop camping bed. Notably, the company previously hinted that it ensures a comfortable and orderly riding experience during driving, while in parking mode, it can flexibly switch to a single-person workstation, a two-person leisure café, a multi-person meeting space, or a family children's play area, catering to all-scenario vehicle needs. Moving to the interior, the Pengcheng N90/N70 Max continues Xiaomi's minimalist design philosophy, featuring a floating center control screen, an independent instrument panel, and HUD head-up display, along with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a column-mounted electronic gear shifter, with ample storage space reserved below the screen. The Pengcheng N90 Max offers five-seat and seven-seat versions, while the Pengcheng N70 Max is only available in a five-seat configuration. The most detailed information is for the Pengcheng N90 Max seven-seat version, which features a completely flat floor and rails running from front to back. The front two seats can rotate 180 degrees, and the second row is equipped with zero-gravity seats. The interior also includes various table usage scenarios, such as installing a table on the rails with an adjustable angle, or on a sliding center console island. The roof also has a retractable screen, expected to be movable front to back, and the third row can optionally install an expanded PAD on the front seat backrests.
In terms of powertrain, the Pengcheng N90/N70 Max will be equipped with a 1.5T range-extender powertrain system. The 1.5T range extender has a maximum power of 112kW, with drive motor peak power at 210kW/100kW, paired with a 76kWh large-capacity battery, offering a WLTC pure electric range of 363-370km. The Pengcheng N70 Max offers single-motor and dual-motor powertrains. The single-motor version has a maximum power of 210kW, while the dual-motor version has combined maximum power of 210kW/100kW, equipped with 52kWh/76kWh batteries, corresponding to pure electric ranges of 270/265km and 380/375km, respectively. From the brand's product portfolio perspective, the implementation of range-extender powertrain has established a clear dual-line product positioning for Xiaomi Automotive. In terms of body size and overall positioning, the main competitors for the Pengcheng N70 include the Li Auto L6 and AITO M6, with an expected final price lower than competitors. The Pengcheng N70 model will serve as the market主力 for the Pengcheng series SUV, with the entry-level single-motor version using batteries from China Aviation Lithium Battery and Sunwoda. The Pengcheng N90 is a flagship large SUV, available in five-seat and seven-seat configurations. However, without active suspension, it is unlikely to target competitors like the Li Auto L9 or AITO M9, and its price is likely to be around 300,000 yuan, targeting the Li Auto L8 and AITO M8.
