At the 2026 Boao Real Estate Forum, held in Hainan from August 11 to 14 under the theme of "Waves and Growth," Gang Fan, Vice President of the China Society for Economic Reform and Director of the National Economic Research Institute, delivered a speech. Fan indicated that China's economy is undergoing a structural adjustment more aligned with the laws of the market economy, with the real estate market already experiencing a relatively rapid price clearing, potentially leading to a bottoming process faster than Japan's historical experience.
He also noted a positive shift in consumer attitudes, with luxury homes in major cities becoming the main sales driver. The buyers are a new generation of young tech billionaires, who are beginning to emphasize living quality and increasingly view real estate as a consumption choice rather than an investment.
