Stock Track | ZIJIN GOLD INTL Plummets 5.07% Intraday as Gold Sector Retreat Broadens After Recent Rally

Stock Track
Aug 11

ZIJIN GOLD INTL shares plummeted 5.07% during intraday trading on Tuesday, accelerating a sell-off that began earlier in the session. The stock dropped to deeper lows as a broad-based pullback across the gold sector took hold.

The sharp decline came after the gold sector had staged a strong rally in prior sessions, with ZIJIN GOLD INTL itself surging over 5% in the previous trading day. That jump was fueled by international gold prices holding above USD 4,100 per ounce and market optimism over the company's decision to take a 9.2% stake in Allied Gold via a CA$416.6 million private placement, rather than pursuing a full CA$5.5 billion acquisition. The lighter capital commitment was seen as reducing financial pressure, but the stock now faces profit-taking pressure as the sector corrects. Other gold stocks also fell broadly, with LINGBAO GOLD down 3.71%, CHINAGOLDINTL down 3.11%, and ZHAOJIN MINING down 2.49%.

The company is scheduled to release interim results on August 14, which may be contributing to cautious positioning among investors ahead of the earnings announcement.
