During this year's National Day holiday, Mr. Zhu's father was staying at a hotel in Shanghai. When checking out and preparing to drive away, he found his vehicle was blocked by other cars.

While taking the car keys from a hotel staff member to move the vehicle, an accident occurred that damaged the car.

After on-site negotiations, Mr. Zhu's side paid the car owner 4,000 yuan in compensation, and the hotel paid 800 yuan.

Afterward, Mr. Zhu's family felt very aggrieved, believing the hotel had management oversights and should bear more responsibility. They contacted the hotel multiple times to negotiate but without success.

Mr. Zhu told a reporter that initially, the front desk staff took out the car keys and suggested his father help move the car. His father initially clearly refused, but later the other party brought the car keys to the parking lot and proactively handed them to his father, guiding him to move the car.

While moving the car, his father operated carelessly and hit a pillar in the parking lot, causing damage to the vehicle's bumper and other parts.

Traffic police determined that the father, as the driver, bore full responsibility for the accident due to improper operation and lack of observation.

The car owner who arrived upon hearing the news explicitly refused to go through the insurance claims process and demanded compensation of 4,800 yuan for the vehicle's 4S shop repair costs.

"Father was very anxious and afraid of trouble. I was on the phone consulting about how to handle this at the time, and unexpectedly, father transferred the money on the spot," Mr. Zhu said.

Mr. Zhu claimed the hotel covered 800 yuan, saying it was paid out of "humanitarian" reasons.

On October 9, the reporter contacted the hotel's Manager Chen, who denied that the hotel proactively guided Mr. Zhu's father to move the car.

"That car owner went out very early that day. When contacted, he said he couldn't come back. His car keys were left at the hotel front desk. Mr. Zhu's father was in a hurry to get out, so he took the keys to move the car, and ended up hitting the pillar next to it," Manager Chen said.

Manager Chen stated that the hotel does not provide parking. The owner of the damaged vehicle is a hotel guest, and the platform had clearly indicated in advance that no parking is provided. He also said the parking lot where Mr. Zhu's father parked that day belongs to a property management company.

After Mr. Zhu agreed to the solution that day, he filed a complaint with relevant departments. The hotel has already provided the relevant surveillance footage to the authorities.
