A man surnamed Li from Sanya, Hainan, has provided chat records alleging that his wife, surnamed Teng, a manager at a local state-owned enterprise, engaged in a long-term extramarital relationship with a local public official, referred to as "Director Zhang." Li claims the two met during a training course and used government office software for intimate conversations, addressing each other as "hubby" and "wife."

On August 14, "Director Zhang" told media he was unaware of the specific details of Mr. Li's allegations or whether the chat records were fabricated. Multiple attempts to contact Mrs. Teng for comment went unanswered as of the publication deadline. An employee at the state-owned enterprise where Mrs. Teng works stated she is currently on leave.

Mr. Li reported that the local disciplinary inspection department has already contacted him and that he is awaiting the outcome of their investigation. When contacted by reporters, a staff member from the relevant Sanya municipal department confirmed that the names and job titles of the two individuals match those reported, but stated that further information is still being gathered.
