During the keynote speech at Google I/O Connect China this afternoon, the company showcased advancements in the Android XR ecosystem for developers targeting global markets.

While introducing the next generation of spatial computing terminals, the Android XR device jointly developed by Google and XREAL, named XREAL AURA, was unveiled. It was opened for trial experiences to developers, media, and Google's ecosystem partners.

Over the past decade, Alphabet has navigated through several hardware platform cycles. Android defined the smartphone era, Wear OS aimed to unify smart wearables, and ChromeOS entered the PC space. Now, Google is placing its new bet on Android XR.

For Google, the core problem Android XR truly seeks to solve is not simply how to make a pair of glasses, but rather how to build the next-generation computing platform.

In recent years, XREAL has been gradually transitioning from an "AR hardware company" to a "spatial computing terminal company." Its product capabilities have moved beyond focusing solely on display parameters, shifting to establish a complete spatial computing system. This includes optical displays, proprietary spatial computing chips, stable spatial anchoring, AI integration capabilities, and adaptation to the Android XR ecosystem, with its research direction now centered around future computing platforms.

Additionally, XREAL has been actively expanding its global market presence in recent years. Markets in North America, Japan, South Korea, and Europe have not only become key sales regions but also serve as crucial sources for product validation and developer feedback. For Google, a partner with a global user base, global developers, and extensive international cooperation experience is more conducive to the rapid growth of the Android XR ecosystem.
