Starting today, hotel orders placed through the Doubao platform and redirected to Douyin Laike for settlement will be subject to a separate fee structure: an 11.4% software service fee plus a 0.6% payment processing fee, resulting in a total rate of approximately 12%.
An industry insider from the hotel sector confirmed the authenticity of this information, noting that the circulating screenshot is a notification from the Douyin Laike backend. According to the insider, "Doubao's hotel recommendations are now charging a commission."
On July 27, the Douyin Life Services Learning Center released a policy document titled "2026 Douyin Life Services Platform Specific Channel Software Service Fee Policy Explanation." The policy outlines that the software service fee is calculated based on the "actual amount paid by the user plus subsidies provided by entities other than the merchant (such as platform universal coupons)." It applies fixed or tiered rates depending on the type of merchant, product category, POI category, product type, and specific transaction channel.
Specific channels, including Doubao, are subject to adjustments based on platform service conditions, and whether an order qualifies as a specific channel transaction will be determined by the order settlement statement.
